i really think that people nowadays have a misconception of the through train system.
they think that we have no o levels,
therefore, we don't need to study,
and therefore, we have no stress we play our entire secondary school life.
that is WRONG.
what i'm saying, is probably gonna be from a bias point of view,
but just let me prove my point.
we have performance tasks (big graded projects)
every other week.
i'm not kidding.
term 2 and term 3 was one heck of hecktic (pun intended)
and we have very limited time.
i.e. usually less than 2 weeks because what we're supposed to do is usually not taught till nearing the due date.
so when teachers say we have oh. 10 weeks to do our pts, noooo that's not true it's more like 2.
and we have to do stupid things like building a motor, FROM SCRATCH.
and not those battery and 2 wires kind.
(because duh if do those your marks sure like sai like that, so it has to be proper and working and can work for long period of time)
and adverts for our projects.
like chem. stinking video.
and bio build a model of dna TO SCALE?
gosh you know a model of dna is not even in my A LEVEL BIO TEXTBOOK?
but ya we got a ppt on it.
but then again, being kiasu rgs girls.
we don't really want to rely on that SINGLE ppt that the ENTIRE COHORT has right?
then we have tests.
and these tests are ALWAYS crammed into a week. or over 2 weeks.
they say small tests.
we say it's COUNTED IN FINAL GRADE. CONTRIBUTES TO GPA.
VERY VERY IMPT.
and we don't usually have mid years.
not for my last 3 years in rg anyway.
and guess what! this year we had them!!!!
yes. AN ENTIRE WEEK OF THEM!
but the school didn't call them mid years, no they didnt.
because we're not suppose to have them!
so they told us it's just our summative(counted towards final grade) assesments put into a week in term 2.
now tell me, a week of exams in term 2 = mid years NO?
then we have our end years in term 3.
another week.
let me ask you a question, does this seem like we're slogging all year round?
DAMN RIGHT.
WE ARE SLOGGING ALL YEAR ROUND DAMMIT.
and in our subjects,
we learn just ABIT of jc stuff.
but that ABIT naturally cannot be found in our textbooks.
and we have alot more 'application' skills.
our science pracs are all on 'application skills' plan your own experiment do your experiment, evaluate your experiment yada yada.
bio our stuff is uni stuff.
according to some people i'm not sure but i know it's not in the a level text.
but that's (according to my teacher) cos they're gnna change the jc syllabus next year so we're preparing.
so which part exactly, does anyone call EASY?
and now, we have options.
DAMN OPTIONS.
my photonics, is part of H3 (equivalent of S paper) physics in jc.
WHICH PART OF PHOTONICS AM I SUPPOSED TO UNDERSTAND THEN?
tough huh.
6.30. who said we could play after exams?
we'll never get to play after exams this year.
cos we study till school ends for the year.

my mom said what for have prom?
we have no BIG exam to sit for.
we don't SLOG for a BIG exam so celebrate for what?
i just proved that we SLOG ALL YEAR ROUND.
BIG for us is basically ALL our tests because ALL our tests contribute towards GPA which COUNTS TOWARDS ADMISSION AND COMBI CHOICE IN JC?
so, o level people.
from what i see it's basically the drilling of everything.
do and do the same thing over and over again.
yeah u study first half year,
but 2nd half is all revision and drilling.
compare that with learning new stuff and getting tested on totally new stuff the whole year round.
i'll say we have sufficiently more don't we?
so that's my general feelings.
i think we have plenty more stress.
and no we have no time to play.
aiya so boring this entry.
i don't like it.
it is 10.40 and i still haven't started on my geog.
which was due this afternoon.
but i don't have the girls address anw.
so even if i did it, i couldnt send it.
ah.i'll make up some excuse.
rmb, my internet is down and it'll only be up running tmr afternoon!
